Jorgen Sjoberg (vocals), Robert Spanglund (tail guitar), Klas Bohlin (musical rhythm guitar), Andreas Wiik (basso), and Morgan Gredaker (drums) aren't afraid to utilize unexpected instruments such as violins and flutes to enhance their unequalled dash, which they began development in 1992. Over the lineage of six age and trey increasingly confident demos, the grouping amply embraced their unorthodox aural mélange and grandiose lyrical schemes (and Baroque leg dress) in front sign oral communication with Metal Blade and releasing 1998's From a Bleeding Heart. The album received more often than not irrefutable reviews and besides featured keyboard musician Mikael Andersson and his married woman, soprano Anna Andersson. Her replacement, Lotta Hogin, performed with the band on their second album, 2000's Bootleg Emotions (released by Pavement Music), and longtime frontman Sjoberg was replaced by Erik Molarin for 2002's Souls Highway. |

Nebraska's lonely ledger entry into the dream pop domain, For Against initially consisted of bassist and vocaliser Jeffrey Runnings, guitarist Harry Dingman, and drummer Greg Hill. Dingman and Hill left later on 1988's Dec to form the Millions, and they were replaced permanently by Steven "Mave" Hinrichs and Paul Engelhard subsequently a switch lineup failed to crop out. Since its origin, Runnings' band has consistently produced a drifting yet distinctly rhythmical well-grounded, soldiership through the myriad alternative scenes of the '80s and '90s. With one foot in the British post-punk of Joy Division and the early in the sailing atmospheric static of Kitchens of Distinction, For Against are worthy of whatsoever and all accolades imagined. Treasured by disgracefully few, geographics and infrequent touring make rendered this a near-impossibility.
Nextbook, Jewish lit organization, ends Seattle series
Nextbook, the national not-for-profit organization that showcases Jewish literature, culture and ideas in programs for the general public, has announced the end of its public program series in Seattle.
In a news release, Nextbook program fellow Michele Yanow said the national organization has run public programs in Seattle, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. However, according to the release, the organization has decided to move away from local programming and focus on running programs at the national level, including a Web magazine, book publishing and other forums for literature discussion.
No existing programs will be canceled; the group ended its 2007-08 series earlier this year.
Last summer Nextbook began looking for local organizations to take over the series and raise some money to support the program. They found partners in Chicago and D.C., but after nine months of conversations with Seattle organizations, Nextbook couldn't find a viable partner.
Yanow thanked local organizations that have partnered with Nextbook in its five years of Seattle programming, including the Seattle Public Library, the King County Library System, the Jewish studies program at the Jackson School at the University of Washington, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle.
Nextbook has brought an extensive list of name authors through Seattle, including novelist Nathan Englander, book critic Michael Dirda, NPR personality Susan Stamberg, and mystery writer Sara Paretsky, to name a few.

Cher harassed at Nashville club, man arrested
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Nashville man has been charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication after he repeatedly harassed Cher at the famed honky-tonk Tootsies Orchid Lounge.
Police say 36-year-old Calvin Hutton Houghland tried to make contact with Cher early Wednesday morning and was asked to leave the club. He complied, police said, but returned a short time later and grabbed Cher by the waist as the singer-actress sat in a roped-off area of the lounge.
Houghland was escorted from the bar, but returned again. When security blocked his attempts to approach the singer, Houghland called police to say he'd been assaulted.
Police say Cher declined to prosecute, but Houghland asked to be arrested.
Houghland failed a self-requested field sobriety test. His bond was set at $3,000.
